Dubai Welcomes Nearly 7 Million International Visitors in Eight Months

Dubai’s tourism sector recorded its strongest monthly visitor performance since February, welcoming 869,000 international overnight visitors in August 2026. The result helped bring the total number of international visitors to 6.97 million in the first eight months of the year, according to data released by the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism.

The August figure marks a continued recovery in tourism activity, supported by the gradual restoration of international connectivity and Dubai’s broad destination offering. Hotel occupancy reached 66% during the month, compared with a low of 36% in March, while the city recorded 21 million booked hotel room nights between January and August.

The figures were announced as Dubai hosted Arabian Travel Market 2026, bringing together tourism professionals, destination representatives and travel companies from 80 countries. The event highlighted Dubai’s continued focus on strengthening visitor confidence, expanding global partnerships and developing tourism products across hospitality, aviation, culture and technology.

For Dubai, the latest data confirms that tourism remains one of the city’s central economic engines. As the new season begins, the sector is supported by a growing calendar of international exhibitions, business events, concerts and cultural experiences, helping drive demand across hotels, retail, restaurants and transport.
