Guidelines for Admission to Private Schools in the UAE

The Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK), overseeing private schools, has released recommendations for parents intending to submit applications to any private school in the emirate.

Rights and Responsibilities during Enrollment:

1. Equal Opportunities: All students have the right to apply to any private school regardless of race, ethnicity, or gender.

2. Pre-Visit Privileges: Parents or guardians have the right to visit the school before enrollment.

3. Re-registration: Schools must re-register current students for the next academic year at the request of parents, except in cases of behavioral issues.

4. Health Support: Schools must accept students with chronic illnesses, providing appropriate support as needed.

5. No Tests for Kindergarten: Children can be enrolled in kindergarten without tests or interviews.

6. Interviews during Mandatory Education: Schools may conduct interviews with students from grades one to twelve.

7. Entrance Tests: Schools may conduct tests to determine the level of academic achievement, not with the goal of denying admission.

Documents Required for Enrollment:

1. Registration Form: Completed form with contact details of parents and students.

2. Emirates ID: Personal identification.

3. Vaccination Card: Vaccination card or medical record.

4. Academic Records: Documents for previous years in case of transferring from another school.

5. Individualized Education Plans Documents: Documents related to individualized education plans and assessments.

6. Any Additional Documents: As requested by the school.

These recommendations aim to ensure fair and accessible education for all children.
